- Whether the door or opener has ever been replaced
What We Will Not Do
We won't give you a firm price over the phone for a broken spring, a bent track, or a dead opener without knowing what's actually on your garage. Torsion springs come in different wire sizes and wind counts, and a lot of the doors we see on houses built between 1979 and 1991 still have original hardware that doesn't match anything on a parts truck. Quoting blind on that kind of door means either lowballing you and adding charges later, or padding the number to cover the unknown. Neither is honest, so we don't do it.
We also don't do full garage builds, additions, or concrete work, that's a different trade. If your opener is old enough that the logic board is the problem rather than the motor, we'll tell you straight that replacement usually beats waiting on a part that may not still be made. And if a job needs a specialty part that isn't something we keep on the truck, we'll say so up front rather than promise a same-day fix we can't deliver. A quote that skips these limits isn't a better quote, it's just a wrong one.
What Happens After You Call
Call (701) 695-8877 and tell us what the door is doing, won't open, makes a bang, one side hangs lower than the other, opener runs but the door doesn't move. That description already tells us a lot, but it doesn't replace a look at the actual door.
Next we set a time to come out. We check the springs, the tracks, the cables, the rollers, and the opener itself, and we look at the age and condition of the panels, since a door from the 1980s or 90s often needs hardware sized differently than what's sold today. From there we give you a price before any work starts, not a range, a number, based on what's actually wrong and what it takes to fix it.
If the fix is simple, we can usually do it the same visit. If a part has to be ordered because it doesn't match current stock, we'll tell you that too, along with what we can do in the meantime to keep the door safe to use. You approve the price before the wrench comes out. That's the whole process, no add-ons discovered after the fact.
Where We Work
We work throughout the Bismarck service area, including Mandan, six miles out, and Menoken, eleven miles from the shop. Across this area there are roughly 10,071 households and about 4,875 owner-occupied houses, and the housing stock leans heavily toward the 1980s and 90s, with median construction around 1985 across two parts of town.
That matters for the job because doors and openers from that era were built to different sizes and standards than what's sold now, and this region sits in a cold, severe climate band that's hard on springs, seals, and rollers year-round. A door that's fine in a mild climate can fail early here just from the temperature swings.

Before You Ask for a Quote
Can you give me a price without coming to look at the door?
Not an accurate one. Spring size, track condition, and opener age all change the price, and doors on houses from the 1980s and 90s often have hardware that doesn't match what's sold today. We can give you a real number once we've seen the door, not before.
Do you work outside Bismarck itself?
Yes. We cover the surrounding area including Mandan, about six miles out, and Menoken, about eleven miles from the shop. If your address falls within that range, we can come take a look and quote the job on site.
Why does my garage door break down every winter?
This area sits in a cold, severe climate band, and cold makes springs brittle and lubricant thick, which is hard on rollers and cables that are already worn. Older doors built before modern weatherproofing standards feel it more.
What if my opener can't be repaired?
Some opener boards, especially older ones, aren't worth chasing a part for. If that's the case, we'll tell you plainly and quote a replacement instead of billing you for a repair that won't hold.
